Well, the summer is here and how can one resist themselves from traveling?

India has indeed, plenty of breathtaking places to visit during the summer. Not just summer, even during monsoon and winter too one will never have a shortage of places.

So, wondering, what could be the ideal place? Where you can go and book your travel tickets?

Well, I believe people will want to visit cooler places to beat the scorching heat and humid weather of India. So, hill station here I say.

When I say hill station, India has so much to offer. All the four sides of India have utterly beautiful hill stations.

I won’t be dragging much now explaining instead I am excited to share with you all my chosen list of 10 best places to visit in India during summer.

Ladakh

Ladakh trip during summer?

A big yes. As the snow started getting melt from the month of May, Ladakh opens its gate for the whole country, and it becomes the hotspot of tourism for the next three-four months.

Travelers start booking their air tickets and hotels, and for the tour operators, this is the pick time to earn.

Ladakh remains pleasant during the summer, and with a clear blue sky, the scenic beauty of Ladakh mesmerize the visitors.

The wide landscape, animals grazing the land, clouds floating in the sky and turquoise water lures travelers to come here during the summer.

Why wouldn’t a person want to visit Ladakh when the place has so much to explore.

Gangtok

Summer is the best time to visit Gangtok to beat the heat. The temperature remains pleasant, and it is India’s one of the most beautiful hill station situated in the northeastern Himalayas.

Gangtok, capital of Sikkim, a place filled with beautiful temples, monasteries, magnificent stupas, Buddhist culture, and heritage.

Traveling is always about learning and exploring. Traveling to Gangtok during the summer will be a relaxing and learning experience.

People from the east of India mostly choose to visit Gangtok during summer as it is near to the eastern states and solve the purpose of going to a gorgeous hill station.

If you are planning for 5 days of stay, you could cover pretty much all the above.

You can also go through Darjeeling, another popular north-eastern hill station. Most people plan for a long 10 days of stay and cover both Darjeeling-Gangtok.

Shillong

I wonder why people don’t opt Shillong as their travel destination? It is such a beautiful place to visit in India during summer holidays.

Shillong is the capital of the northeastern state Meghalaya which is surrounded by picturesque landscape and nature’s beauty.

You will find numerous splendid waterfalls, forest, an opportunity to explore the northeast culture.

Although, people from the south and north don’t think of going to Shillong as north and south part of India has many hill station destinations. Like people from the north prefer Shimla, Manali or Uttarakhand and in the south, they mostly prefer Ooty, Munnar, Coorg and etc.

So, thoughts of going to Shillong doesn’t occur in their mind.

Manali

Manali is the most common and preferable best place to visit in India during summer. It is a package of everything. If you love a road trip, you can enjoy driving from Chandigarh to Manali.

A place which is ideal for summer vacation and winter vacation both. The best thing about visiting Manali is one can explore many hidden breathtaking locations that are serene, and you might not even have heard of those small villages or view spots in and around Manali.

For the people of North India, Manali is like a second home to them. It is near, road connectivity is functional, so people love to spend their long weekends nearby Manali.

Munnar

As I was saying, India has hill stations scattered all over the country. Kerala, situated in the southernmost region of the country is country’s one of the most desired travel destinations.

Apart from dense forest, beautiful backwater and delectable cuisine, Kerala has some of the most amazing hill stations. And as you can see, it is a full package that offers a tourist everything that they want to experience on their trip.

People from all over the country irrespective of states or region, love to visit one such hill station named ‘Munnar’ during the summer.

The gorgeous views of the lush green tea plantations, hilly curvy roads, a few wildlife viewing spots, magical waterfalls and pleasant climate even during the summer make it a popular tourist destination place in India.

Well, you can also enjoy a road drive from Bangalore to Kerala.

Coorg

‘Coorg’ is popularly named as ‘Scotland of India.’ The British called it Coorg, they left, but the name remained so for years.

Coorg is situated in the Western Ghats of southern Karnataka. The land of Coorg is bestowed with timeless beauty, rich history and surrounded with lush green tea and coffee plantations.

It is a great long weekend trip from Bangalore, but people from other parts of the country too visit Coorg.

 Although the weather in Coorg remains pleasant throughout the year the ideal time to visit is from November to June.

So, if you stay in the southern part of India, you can plan to visit Coorg during the summer as a short trip. Or, you can also prepare for a long trip in Karnataka state and go to the selected nearby places.

Kodaikanal

One best place to visit in India during the summer is Kodaikanal which is situated in the lap of Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu.

You can plan a summer trip to Kodaikanal with your friends, family and even solo.

You will enjoy your stay always at any time of the year. But during the monsoon, western Ghats look the best. But it rains a lot so you won’t be able to enjoy other outdoor activities like trekking, hiking or sightseeing.

During summer, as the weather remains pleasant, you can always plan to come.

So, Kodaikanal is definitely one of the best places to visit in India during summer.

Dalhousie

In my list, I am adding Dalhousie, a scenic hill station nestled in the Himalayan Range.

If you remember, we have read it in our history books that Dalhousie was named after the British Viceroy Lord Dalhousie. You will see Victorian architecture bungalows scattered across the hilly town.

Khajjiar is one such extraordinary beautiful place located just 24kms from Dalhousie, is considered as mini Switzerland. The area is surrounded by pine trees, and it has a small lake.

Mostly trekking, camping, and paragliding are done here during the summer, and during winter the place remains covered in snow.

Apart from Khajjiar, you can also visit other attractions:

The temperature in summer remains maximum 25C-26C. Quite pleasant as compared to temperature in other cities.

Darjeeling

Darjeeling is the best place to visit in India during June for the people who stay in the eastern and northeastern region of India.

Darjeeling is a historic place. It has historical significance, and even people from other countries too find this place quite interesting.

The beautiful town although remains busy and crowded during the peak tourist season, but Darjeeling is a gateway to various other picturesque small Himalayan villages where you can literally connect with your soul and attain peace.

There are several tea estates and plantations, you can enjoy riding a toy train. A week of the trip to Darjeeling during summer with your family or friends is ideal for a vacation.

So far, I have only talked about the hill stations in India.

Does summer only attract cooler places?

I can’t deny that in India summer means extreme hot and humid weather. You can only think of places where you will be under the radar of much cooler temperature and places that can beat the ugly heat.

But there are some who rather enjoy beach holidays, enjoy wearing shorts and summer clothes, diving into the resort pool and show-off their dollars of the sunglass.

Goa is a great travel destination throughout the year in India. But during summer, the beaches of Goa looks excellent.

You can enjoy the water for many hours you want. You can enjoy water sports, get drunk in shacks, nightlife. Summer in Goa is like spending summer in Miami.
